How important is the quality of interior paint in Colorado?
Here in Colorado, we enjoy a dry climate. Because we aren’t dealing with the challenges of humidity, the quality of paint we use indoors is less important. This means you can save money by choosing a lower quality paint and still get a great and long-lasting paint job, as long as your paint professional knows what they are doing.
As with exterior painting, the quality of an interior paint job is determined by the quality of the preparation. |
Save money by preparing your space for interior painting
Once your interior paint job has been scheduled, you can do a lot to help us give you the highest quality paint job. Be sure to remove (or move to the center of the room and cover) anything that should be protected from paint! This includes artwork, decorative items, furniture and rugs, as well as blinds and window treatments. If you’re keeping your artwork in the same place, you can leave the nails and hooks in the wall. If you are planning to redecorate, however, remove the nails or hooks and we’ll patch the walls as we prepare to paint. We’ll bring drop cloths for the floor, but the more you can prepare for us the easier it will be for us to do the best job for you, and your prep will save our time and your money!
At the Paint Saint, we rarely tape. Instead, we prefer to hand-paint trim and details, relying on our many years of experience with brush in hand. We’re confident that you’ll love the attention to detail that makes your interior space come to life.

Are VOCs in paint a danger to me and my family?
Some people ask me about the dangers of VOCs in paint. “VOC” stand for Volatile Organic Compounds. These are chemicals found in solvent-based paints, stains, and coatings. Small amounts of VOCs may also be present in many water-based paints and coatings. These chemicals generally aid in the flow of paints and stains and assist in their ability to spread and penetrate the surface being coated. There are known health risks associated with VOCs. Fortunately, technology has changed on most paint in recent years. Colorado has followed California’s stringent requirements for safety in regard to paint and stain. Most paint today does not contain VOCs. When VOCs are a concern, water-based stains can be used instead of oil-based, and these are still good quality. Bring your questions regarding paint and stain and we’ll help you determine the best quality and right product for your job.
